| Description | This research guide suggests that students can look at a website URL for evaluating a website's credibility. This website is a good example of introducing nuance to the research process; it cautions students that educated guesses are not enough and reminds us that "Making educated guesses about the reliability of web sites will only get you so far--you must rigorously evaluate web sites on an individual basis, be they a .com or .gov." However, this point is somewhat undercut by its above blanket statement that "In general, .gov and .edu web sites are more reliable than .com web sites." |
